Byron to the Philippines
The girls were somewhat jittery as we boarded the first flight to Manila, via Sydney, as always, the fear of the unknown coming to the fore. Coupled with a clear lack of confidence in their mother for dealing with anything whatsoever- ‘I wish Daddy was here’ was a continuous echo 😜…. Arrival at Manila went […]
Byron Bay
The day we left for Byron, organic hipster surfer capital of the south, was tinged with sadness as we said goodbye to Daddy for three weeks. Not easy to split the family up any time, but especially on an adventure like this. He gallantly dropped us off and stoically begin his trek back to the […]

Bryon Beach life, took it upon herself to send me such an amazing list of things to do. One of said things was a circus training workshop with Circus Arts Australia, for the girls. That sounded excellent, and perfect for just another Tuesday, so booked it was. Rashly, I also booked myself in. For the flying trapeze. I mean WTF? Why did I decide to do that, I thought, as I climbed the rickety ladder to impending doom at the top. Leaning forward into the abyss (yes, harnessed but abyss nonetheless) to grab the trapeze was not an easy feat. But miraculously, a leap of faith, a fair few screeches and closed eyes, and magic ensued! And now we are all hooked! We now wish to run away with the circus, immediately.

It was Tuesday, we were supposed to be on the beach, but it RAINED, so we had to find something to do. As luck would have it, and it just always does when you travel, lovely Helen from the best shop ever, with amazing clothes and brilliant sun shades (as per photos), Bryon Beach life, […]
Sydney: Part 2
The next trip was a visit to the beach at Manly. Popular with all Sydney-ites, there are non-stop fast ferries straight from Circular Quay, so it tends to be pretty well populated, but we got a fairly good day. Good for surfing, we rented a board and the girls and Alberto got stuck in- and […]
Sydney continues: Australia Day
Off we went off, unsuspecting, to the ferry back to the centre to explore a little more. It was Australia Day. We gave it little thought, having understood the plan was ‘to have a barbecue with friends’ and not much else, until we turned into the bay to the right of Mosman and saw ourselves […]
The power of recording memory
I try to get around to the darn blog, while Alberto and the girls make things of great beauty, with watercolours, maps, scraps, treasured memories… Map making and diary writing – the power of recording memories in whichever way resonates with each and every one of us. Understanding that a certain amount of discipline is […]
